Academic Life

Reaching potential and grammar schools

Our pupils continually earn excellent results in their Grammar School entrance exams. The strong work ethic of our Prep School children is encouraged and cultivated by their experience at St Martin’s, as we work to ensure that your child is prepared for the next step in their academic life.

Our mixed classes are small, and our diverse curriculum allows your child to develop and learn. Regular monitoring of each child’s progress means that all children are given work appropriate to their needs. Assessments are carried out throughout the school and, with specialist support available, all children can progress. Provision for ‘gifted and talented’ pupils through their academic, sporting or artistic ability, allows them to reach their full potential.

‘By the time pupils leave school in Year Six the vast majority are achieving Well Above Average in reading, writing and mathematics.’  (Ofsted Inspection 2016)
