This week we learnt about the concerning effect of using palm oil. Everyday, 25 orang-utans die because their habitats and homes are destroyed in order to make palm oil for products that we humans consume. We decided we want St. Martin’s to be a palm-oil-free school! We went on a mission to the kitchen to discover whether palm oil was used in any of the products. We found it was an ingredient in the margarine that we use! We spoke to Mrs Virgo and we decided to buy palm-oil-free from this point on.
